Lines on the Wall of Life
( 1 )
I have a tremendous love for Oslo①
Because of great Gustav Vigeland.
The renowned sculpture of Life
Is shaped like a pillar of heaven.
The universe exists a million years;
Human life is a flick of the finger.
Erected in the Sunshine Pavilion,
It opens a new chapter for flowers.②
Note: ①A famous Norway sculptor.
②This refers to the grafting of flowers and plants.

Like swallows the couple Cao and Xie①
Bring back clay from the cattail fields.
With concentrated minds, they copy
Creation;
Simulating attitudes, they create diverse
shapes.
Charming smiles hide the inner tension;
Struggling arises from a strenuous climb.
Much moved, I can’t tear myself away;
Gripping my wrists I give a sigh of wonder.
Note: ① The deaf sculptor Cao Ruiqiang and his wife Xie Lu.
